Insurance Support

Flood damage is excluded under most standard business insurance policies, but it’s not unwise to check with your insurance agent about your individual situation. Business owners who have purchased policies through the National Flood Insurance Program may be covered in certain disaster events.

National Flood Insurance Program
Federal flood insurance is available for business owners in designated flood plain areas. Costs vary depending on how much insurance is purchased, what it covers, and the property’s flood risk. Policies provide coverage for building, with optional coverage available for contents. Typically, there’s a 30-day waiting period from date of purchase before your policy goes into effect. The agent who writes your business insurance should be able to assist you in determining your eligibility and coverage options.

Am I eligible?
